Even thugs are reeling from inflationary pressures: knives are cheaper than guns.

So many stabbings wow.

Edit: another Toronto shooting/homicide today, 17 yo kid.

A York Regional Police officer was killed too.
I really wonder about the motivation now that the suspect’s dead too.
It was quite the scare when police issued that amber alert.

I believe there are three people dead as a result of this:

A Toronto cop who was in Mississauga for some type of training at a centre there.

The boss of a business where the killer worked. Maybe a body shop.

Another young employee of the business.

There were simply so many shooting incidents in that area in a short timespan that I can’t tell which ones are related.

Another remote community (Ft Goodhope NWT) with a mass stabbing incident. 1 dead. The suspect eventually turned himself in.

I think Surrey takes the title of most homicides this year, in BC anyway.

A triple homicide in Quebec earlier this week.
I wish the entire country could go at least a week without a multiple homicide situation.

Horrible story. A man killed is wife (or ex-wife) and their two kids, in the Montreal south shore suburb of Brossard.

Yet another femicide.

Yup and there are still a few months to go in the year. Would not be surprised if Winnipeg gets up to where Toronto is now.

The numbers seem much lower this year, where are you getting your stats from? I went to see what it was at today on the Toronto Police website and it's showing 49 homicides to date not 52.

https://experience.arcgis.com/experi...b/page/Page-1/

We had 85 last year and things usually cool off between now and Christmas.

Even if we are currently at 52 it's always nice to remind ourselves all of our cities are safe compared to comparably sized cities south of the border. as of this morning Chicago sits at 522 homicides!!!

Philadelphia has 422 so far, Dallas 153 and Houston is on it's way to surpass it's 473 murders from last year. While I was looking at similar sized cities San Fran has 47 at the moment, and Seattle has 48, I'm not really too shocked about that as these two cities are way more left leaning and chill then other American cities of their sizes.

.
I generally get my numbers from media outlets (generally more than one) who say "this was the XXth murder of the year in XX".

I've seen that Toronto police page and they don't list all murders there - they skip some due to the nature of the crime or of the investigation, I think.
