They should not be cladding the base in stone. It only makes more obvious the use of precast panels everywhere else, and the border between the two is a source of major discord.

I personally disagree, as unless you are just standing there and analyzing the different materials from super close up you won't notice the difference. From the distance that most people will see it(or at street level since you won't stare straight up) it won't be noticeable.

Take as an example 453 N Clark - AMLI River North - the top floors are not really visible when you are on the sidewalk, the marble on the first 2 is, and it is nice.

I can see it in the skyline now! Just a little nub sticking up, and I need my 10x power telescope to make out the cranes clearly, but it's there. Further to the left than I thought it would be.

Anyone know how the final height compares to where the top crane is now? Based on the River East Center at 644ft, the core is at ~650ft now? 180ft to go?

I think the final height is a probably a couple floors above the top of the highest crane now.

From that photo it looks like they have poured 15 or 16 floors above the setback. You can just about double that segment and it would be close to the final height.

i assume you're talking about the legacy, one of the nicest (perhaps THE nicest?) SCB towers from the previous boom last decade.

Came across a recent interview with A M Stern about this project. Nothing earth shattering, but FWIW:
