This isn't going well over at the NYY article comments... Pretty funny.

Yeah, 1,500 ft is becoming a mark, but at least they would be somewhat spread out. This would be right next to 3 Hudson, and bordering the other towers of similar height, but would stand a head above the rest in a way 30 Hudson can’t, thanks to the extra height. And there’s still the second phase of the railyard to be built, with Gehry, Calatrava, and Stern. When all is said and done, the Hudson Yards might be the greatest collection of modern towers in the City.
And let's not forget the 360 10th Avenue project, which could be a 1,350-1,400 ft tower.

McCourt should sell that site to Extell.

Does anything ever go well in those comments? I never go down there anymore, I just read the articles and then go to the forums.
Also the tower looks great man.

Might take some adjustment. This design kind of reminds me of an upside down 2 WTC (BIG Design) based on the North/South profile.

Not so much a fan of the North/South profile but can dig how it looks via the river based on the renderings. Either way, will be happy when it rises!

^Not so much upside down as it is taking the cantilevering to the absurd extreme.

I think most of the proposals will have a distinguishable cantilever due to the need to accommodate for the service building.

The 1,500 ft bid here is not the proposal, until it is selected over all other proposals, which we haven't seen. So I've updated the height to reflect up to 1,500 ft. It could be more (we haven't seen), but it could be less as well.

I presume you are referring to the ventilation building for the 7 line. If so, i see no reason why the site couldn't be maximized without the use of dramatic cantilevering. And do we even know if this accomidation requires absolute "air reservation" if you will or would an arrangment like the cantelever we will see at 343 Madison where enough open air to suffice adequete air draw but structure above?

There are a few challenges to the site (both Amtrak and the MTA), but 55 Hudson was also developed with a ventilation structure. I don't know that the cases are exactly the same though.

How Extell planned to build on that site, incorporating the vent....

Thanks for posting those... Looks like, at least these west side vent buildings require more or less 100' of open space for adequite ventilation to the tunnel.

Oh cool, I wanted to see this. A tower of this scale would bring more balance around Midtown…

Nice! Is this skyscraper will be named “Affirmation Tower” or One Hudson Yards?

One Hudson Yards was a supertall proposal by Extell Development for what is now 55 Hudson Yards. There was a “swap” with Related that got Extell taking over the 740 8th Ave site, where it plans another supertall tower with an observation deck.
