^If you've ever driven up Pembina you will see it is nothing but a wasteland that spans half the length of the city, and this design is quite fitting for that environment!

I would definitely not call Pembina a wasteland. However, the quality of architecture up until recently has been anything but aesthetically pleasing.

It definitely adds to the south Winnipeg skyline, it adds some heft to the view from the Perimeter or coming up Pembina.

the roofline of the whole complex is now lit with a strip of LEDs like a "halo" and is pretty eye catching from the perimeter and while driving along pembina. will be quite the enduring nighttime landmark.

just a question here: big multi-family apartments are beneficial for those who work in the area. I don't see many large-scale employers in S. Winnipeg. Who's going to rent an apartment for $1200 in S. Winnipeg only to drive 45 minutes downtown for their job?

It’s next to the Blue Line St. Norbert leg for easy commute to DT, and there are 6 schools within a 2km radius + the U of M. Even though it’s at the edge of the city there’s a lot of restaurants, services, grocery and speciality stores within a walking distance at or adjacent to the Fort Richmond Plaza. Hell they even have a nightclub next to the Burger King now lmao. Probably a hot take but I struggle to find any areas in Winnipeg that have the livability, convenience, and safety that Fort Richmond has. You can easily live a car free life in the area. My only gripe with it is that Pembina is a ugly looking stroad.

Also, with more people WFH there’s more flexibility with location and I have a feeling this building will get leased out pretty fast.

Driving by the Halo at night, a lot of the suites in the north building had lights on. I would guess they're leasing very well right now. South tower starts leasing in April 2024.

$1200 is pretty cheap. The apartments on Pembina are targeting U of M to help move people out from the basement they share with 11 other international students.
