That's a big enough site I really wish they'd put apartments or some sort of active space on the street side all the way down. I understand how that's a challenge if you include parking in small site, but that site is big enough they should have been able to do it.

Since this is going to be partially in the parking lot to Le Cordon Bleu, will they be charging for any public parking and making money off this?

Incoming 29-story hotel at 11th and Wabash

Hoteliers plan 281-room Hilton near Grant Park

By Alby Gallun
The owner of the Best Western across from Grant Park is jumping into downtown hotel building boom with plans for a 281-room Hilton next door.

A venture led by Hinsdale investors Su-Mei Yen and Hui-Hsein Bert Yen wants to build the 29 story-hotel at 1101 S. Wabash Ave., just west of the Best Western Grant Park, according to a letter their zoning lawyers sent to neighbors. The South Loop project, which needs city approval, would include 196 regular rooms, 85 extended-stay units and 150 parking spaces, according to the letter, posted on the Sloopin blog....

Also DNAInfo posted about the meeting tonight for the 38-story building next to K2. Expect more NIMBYs to come because of it

Nice. Parking ramp thing might bite the dust. I hope the design is nice. Also didn't know these owned the Whitehall. Now it makes sense why there's a Taiwanese restaurant there Found this article from 1994 detailing her life. This woman is very driven - love reading about stuff like this:

I'm guessing that most of the people who show up to complain will be from the surrounding low-rise townhomes. The thousands of young renters at the K-station buildings probably don't care one bit.

I though that was soil testing for 1136 S. Wabash, not for this site. Jeez, I'm starting to lose track of these projects

At the Union & Halsted Community Meeting and surprisingly, there's really no NIMBYISM.

The design isn't as horrid as the K Station buildings, but it's still Pappageorge/Haymes
