I love the splash of colour. I realize now why I immediately thought of Rotterdam when I saw these new renders. Red is a great accent colour in a skyline.

It looks nice from the street angle but I don't think the lighting in this rendering is correct. Pimsi is on the north side so this side of the buildings will mostly be in the shadow as the Sun shines from the south lol

EDIT: How do we delete duplicate posts? New here lol

I don't think we can delete posts. You can edit your post and get rid of your content and write 'Delete' though, and a mod will come along and delete it.

Edit: The sun actually does hit this side of the buildings well before sunset around the Summer Solstice

The more I look at them the happier I am with them. Wish these babies were 145m and 120m respectively, man that would be awesome. Dream has a good plan with them, hoping they come exactly as planned.

Wow. I guess I must be the only person that thinks these designs look hideous.

I'm not sold on the towers but I LOVE the podium design. This stretch of Albert is going to look spectacular with the LRT station, these two towers, then the library.

And hopefully a new Sens arena between City Centre and Preston

I love them for three reasons:

1. The west side of The Great Clump is absolutely hideous and a little bit of colour goes a long way. I have always like The Laurier because the splash of red brightens up an otherwise very somber scene (don't tell Roderick Lahey!).

2. The Rooflines. In a Blocky Stump City this is revolutionary.

3. They are DIFFERENT. Not a single charcoal brick or beige/white panel, not a single thing tying them to any other architectural style in the city other than the Lester B. Pearson Buildingesque podiums.

No, I'm right there with you. Screw everything about this project from the lack of LRT integration to the windows being, what, 24 inches wide on that one side?

I do agree that a skybridge or a tunnel for the retail and community bike areas should definitely be included as that creates better integration/retail options for the station itself, especially during the winter. It would even be better if it went from the station to the retail area of these buildings to Adiosoke.

Wondering why that isn't the case.

What about below ground connections? ie. Dig out a 14' deep shallow trench/underground access pathway connecting Pimisi, the two towers, and the library. For additional lighting, consider dome skylights hidden in raised flower beds or something. Certainly makes year-round access much easier to maintain and isn't a giant-above ground covered tube that interrupts the space. It'd be an ode to the old beer tunnels and old train tracks in the area

I'm kind of torn on this project and proposal, part of me wants to like it and like the unique aspect of it.

But part of me thinks, there are so many elements that are required to go right in terms of materials chosen, craftsmanship etc... if those don't go right this could look like a very bad project very quickly.

My only partial saving grace at this point is that this is Dream and they typically are capable of doing good projects.. so i have my fingers crossed.

To the second part of the discussion, i would love to understand/know what the rationale behind not linking to the station directly would be? Is there an actual reason? I thought maybe security could be a reason, but many residential buildings in Toronto and other cities are linked so that can't be it..

It's because Ottawa is designed as a sub-tropical city and nobody ever considers the winter weather for unknown reasons.

Just kidding, they know perfectly well it's a Hellscape in winter, it's actually because everything in Ottawa is value engineered.

Great idea! Yeah, I'd definitely say those links would be very good for Pimisi and the Lebreton area as a whole. Those tunnels would start becoming busy real fast once these buildings and Adiosoke are up and running!

And maybe once they find that lost train again, it can form a mini art and museum exhibit in one of the tunnels

Definitely have to add Pooley's Cave to this tunnel network

I have a sinking feeling that this will get switched to black, grey, silver and beige by the end...
