Kimpton was originally going to be the hotel brand, but that developer pulled out a couple years ago.
The current design, which has already been approved through DRB, is with a different developer. I believe the new brand is supposed to be a Hyatt, but one of their newer more urban style brands similar to the Canopy brand for Hilton.
Yeah, i think 100 Mill announced that a few months ago, they leased the 10th, 11th, and 12th floors in the building. So 4 of the 9 floors are fully leased.
Interesting though, they posted a new video on their website that shows the full design of the hotel tower next door and not just a silhouette as shown previously. https://100milltempe.com/
It will be interesting to see if that site ever gets the hotel built. Tempe seams to struggle in getting large hotels built. The Marriot, Canopy and Westin (under construction) hotels are the only mid rise hotels in the area and all of the others are less than 10 stories. For some reason interest from chains appears to be low to the uneducated eye. Have any chains shown interest in the site on a scale the developer is looking for?

I would suspect that once more businesses setup shop there and we get out of the pandemic this will change. I mean - why wouldn’t Kimpton want to build next to an office tower that houses 500 Amazon employees - with 350+ on the corner across the street? A site of that size means eventually people will travel to this site for business and staying near the office is always top choice. Especially being right on Mill Ave...

Anyone know what ended up happening with Tempe Depot? As soon as I heard about it a while ago I thought it sounded incredible. Can't find any update on it though, so I guess it got shot down?
I was looking at the Regency Garage RFP by Berger (thanks to Crested Saguaro) and on page 94, SUNDT listed its current projects and I noticed 101 Sixth Street Tempe a 25 floor residential building.
I found Wexford Development of Canada owns the land, does anyone know if this is a serious proposal or just trying to flip the land?

I first saw that proposal when they were putting the design team together about 18 months ago. At that time they had 3 renderings, all slight variations of the 25 story tower and it was very much a serious proposal, but since then nothing has been submitted to the City, so I am not sure where that project currently stands.
I just got a neighborhood development and use permit mailer for the Tempe Depot. I guess there will be a virtual meeting on Sept 9, 6pm. Tempedepot.com

It just says 'Pad overlay, development plan review and use permit applications, Tempe planning case PL190330. But the tempedepot.com has additional download docs
So it appears that Omni, 100 mill hotel, Vib hotel and Hilo have been in plan review for building permit for quite some time. Anyone have additional info on the timing of these? I imagine that Omni will begin after Mirabella wraps up (sometime this fall) and Hilo will begin once the Westin wraps up since both are used as staging. Downtown tempe will look drastically different in the next few years.
Looks great. I wish this had a rooftop pool though. I highly recommend each of you to visit the bar/pool on the rooftop of canopy. Such great vibes and amazing views of all the projects in that area and of downtown. Good food and drinks as well.
