Congratulations to Erik Karlsson for 25G, 75A, and 100PTS. Only the sixth defenseman ever to reach 100.

Giroux and Pavelski both reach 1,000 points last night as well. Congrats to both of them.

Oilers presale for round 1 is basically sold out in thirty minutes at 50-80% more than season prices for round 1. Passed on acquiring more... which I surely will regret.

Lots of pointy sticks pointed at Sutter, but don't know how a new coach can make Markstrom stop the fkn puck.

30 losses in one goal games.

31st in the league in SV%

They had big changes in the lineup this year and they gave up some leadership (Gaudreau) and leadership and grit (Tkachuk). Markstrom has pretty much been a 0.912 goaltender his career and this year was .020 less which is a lot over the season. I think that will be better next year, but Calgary might need to invest in a different backup (Vlader was no better), but that more points to issues in front of the goalies.

If you go to Stathletes and look at the season comparison between this year and last, every single goaltending metric is way worse.

The only team defense stat that went pear shaped was odd man rushes against. The Flames are 4th best in expected goals against.

There were lots of problems with the team, but the number one reason the Flames missed the playoffs was goaltending.

^I agree with your assessment DoubleK.
Last night’s game was representative of the entire season - just needed one more save. A very Flamesey way to go out.

I guess now it’s “Go Wranglers” & “Go Roughnecks”.

I think Calgary would have had a much better season if they had a goaltender like Hellebuyck or Saros. Look at how much each of those goalies have saved their respective teams. Saros has stolen more games this season for his team than any other goalie in the league. When Helle was playing poorly, the Jets struggled. Calgary would be in if not for their awful goaltending duo.

Saros probably gonna get Hart votes this year. McD is going to win in a landslide, but you gotta give Saros some votes.

Ullmark is going to win the Vezina.

TBH, Calgary would have been eliminated long ago if Winnipeg didn't open the door a smidge. Must have been pretty nervy being a Jets fan for a while.

still is team needs serious rebuild this summer moving pld while they can still get a return and moving scheif out as he continues to be a locker room diva refusing to play defensively at all.

Interesting that the NHL decided on Australia. Do they see a potential future pool of Aussie players? Or is it just a quick money grab.

^^working on making it a global game and given their love of contact sport.

^Maybe at points, but these are the two teams in the west to beat.

Oilers are definitely the team to beat in the West.

Best case scenario for the Jets in the first round is Vegas. I don't want any part of the Oilers.

^indeed and nice to see him get there.

^^Jets Oilers would be a good matchup IMO and I am worried about them interrupting things for various teams.
