The LED lighting plan for the slug could be rather nice.

To be fair (?), the view down Front Street isn’t so sluggish.

The way the buildings line up it looks like they have a new construction technique and are using a top-down building approach.

(Toronto) CIBC Square II (Bay Park Centre II as it was known years ago) is becoming quite large right next to Union, although we'll see how long ti takes to shoot up into the skyline:

Mizrahi released some renderings of the now approved height of 91 storeys … and comfirmed that is what they’ll build.

The logistics and ingenuity for projects of this scale continues to amaze me.

I guess I'll say it...I like lighting on buildings, adds vibrancy and just looks cool at night.

I am not digging the lighting on this. I am not seeing "tastefull" in this. It seems more like - lets just put lights on everything. Maybe if it was just the top portion.

I'm sure I am in the minority...

Tasteful and LED light bars are contrary to one another so I agree with you on that. The lighting installation here accentuates the facade design which is more than the majority of LED installations in Canada. Many are super bright and pointless. This one needs to remain one colour and static. Any dynamic display with or without colour changes will cross that line into tacky.

I think I'm also in the minority with dynamic LED light bar installations with or without colour changes. (Unless we're talking about an installation that can project whales swimming)

I'm a fan of architectural lighting on skyscrapers, but prefer a more simple crown aesthetic - the Brookfield Place towers on Bay/Wellington, I find to be quite nice, for instance.

This one is pretty obnoxious though. Even when it's not flashing, it looks kind of tacky in my opinion.

Looking north up Yonge Street: kinda hard to believe this rather skinny super-tall will be 234 feet (71.4 metres) taller than One Bloor East, its 76 storey neighbour on the right. The One is about half the height of One Bloor East so far.

Core rise and steel starting to ramp up for what might be the last big/tall office tower to rise in the city (perhaps the country)… for quite a while, as noted by caltrane.
