I understand perfectly the purpose of those oversized windows. And I agree with you, they are great and will provide breathtaking views to the lucky ones living inside.

However, if, instead of merely 2500 windows, this tower would have had 10 000, it would have looked like a city rising above the city. A bit like the Empire State did in his time.

It seems that EarthCam is behind the 8-ball. For two weeks now, the 59th Street cam has been inoperative, and now, with the core form currently rising as seen on the 53rd Street cam, it will soon go out of view.

Hopefully the 59th Street cam comes back online, and that the 53rd Street cam gets repositioned to follow the upward growth of 432 Park Avenue. Both cams were seemingly automatically repositioned at lunchtime between 12:00 and 1:00PM every day.

But it is also a missed opportunity. Because, as expected, those huge windows have deleted a sense of infinity typically found on supertall of that size.

This is particularly obvious when you look at One 57 on this picture compared to 432 Park. The former look very tall and perfectly integrated in the skyline while 432 park look like an out of scale photoshoped addition.

With a regular facade, this tower would have been outstanding. I can't wait for The Nordstorm tower and 111W 57th to really give to NYC a vision of greatness that this tower so cruelly lacks.
The picture is the problem not the building.

This pic is taken from a perspective that gives no depth references for 432 park. It only shows a small portion of one side of the building. So of course it feels out of place.

The windows actually do the exact opposite of what I assume you are critiquing here in reference to the "sense of infinity". But again this is an awful photo for critiquing the vertical sense of a building. If you look at pictures from the base of the building the rigid repetition of that grid all the way up the building without interruption actually makes the building feel taller and gives you that sense of verticality.

I'm not sure what a 'regular facade' is but I assure you this facade is outstanding as it is.

Great pictures! I deeply appreciate what you guys post on this forum. I was in NYC for a week on business, and only got a 5 second glimpse of this and Freedom Tower, glad I can watch everything grow here, in detail.

Imagine this exact image but with all the 57th Street towers completed as well as a completed WTC, Hudson Yards, 1 Vanderbilt & East Midtown rezoning, Tower Verre, Lower Manhattan residentials, etc.

Could somebody make a photoshop rendering with the aforementioned projects using this image as a template? That would be greatly appreciated.

This angle always looks jaw dropping from a helicopter perspective. Youtube actually has a couple of very recent (1-2 months ago) aerials via a helicopter tour. It shows 432 Park Ave in great detail, all the videos are also 720/1080p.

Go to 14:25 Mark, make full screen, max quality, and watch for about 3 minutes or so (You will thank me). Its the same view in that picture. Current time was Jun 20, 2014, but it shows 432 Park Ave, plus its a kickass view of the skyline and it also shows WTC 1 in all its glory.

I like this one. This is the view you get from Exchange Plaza in JC. When I was there a couple of months ago, I didn't see the tower ( I think I was busy looking at WTC1). This vantage point is stunning. Also, I could only imagine the other supertalls. Gotta give credit to the ESB, still is dominant as hell.
