A couple of games in hand, but you never know with those two.

Should be fun to watch though.

A terrible goal called back which would have put the Oil up 2-0. Instead St. Louis scores and then goes on a PP. We then have a very, very similar goal challenge that does not stand and so we go down 2. Talk about a change in momentum.

St.Louis was desperate, fast and aggressive on their forecheck.

We were lucky to get a point.

Not necessarily NHL news but the NewFoundland Growlers of the ECHL are ceasing operations immediately, and folding today.

They were the Maple Leafs ECHL affiliate.

Has not happened since 18-19 (Max Domi, 72 pts). Also the only time it has happened in the last decade (before that was Plekanec with 70 pts in 09-10).
Goal for the Habs has been achieved. Nick Suzuki with 71 pts this season so far. Also first player with at least 30g, 30a since Max Pacioretty in 2016-2017.

Only the 6th season by a Habs player in the last 25 years. Yes that's right don't laugh.

Probably were used to the AHL for so many years, and people did not accept the ECHL.

They didn't exactly set the world on fire with attendance when they had the Maple Leafs AHL (I'm only looking back to when the new arena opened). They drew about the same, or slightly more, than the Growlers did. They did better the first couple seasons of the IceCaps, but that fell off fast right before they moved (not sure if that last season, it was known they were leaving, which could explain the drop). They also didn't draw really high for the few years they had the QMJHL.

A decent first, but horrific 2nd and 3rd.

Our D looked maybe the worst it has in 2024.

How you play like that at this point in the season is disturbing; it's clear that while we have improved overall, there is a level of compete and commitment that we simply continue to struggle with.

I've been following the scoring race for a couple of months now. Was rooting for McD, but at the same time it feels refreshing when it's not dominated by one person.

Pretty fascinating though to see the stark contrast between McD's stats last year and this year.

He essentially missed the first month of the year which is the main reason and was believed to be sorting out an injury.

The other thing is that he is a far more complete player now and has been working on other part of his game. Seriously.

Isn't it consistent for McJesus to follow a Gretzky Oilers season with a Gretzky Kings season?

Again, he basically missed a month from the race for various reasons and has changed his overall game.

That said, he looks to become only the 4th player in NHL history to have 100 apples; that's partially due to how he is trying to uplift those around him.

His even year seasons are less Jesus like than his odd year seasons. It's just a peculiarity. If the trend continues, He'll probably play a healthy (yeah, injuries are part of the game that impact stats) 80 games next year with 165 to 175 points.

Mario would be the all time leader in scoring were it not for his health

Only one d-man in that elite group of 4.

Whoever wants to get rid of fights altogether is not a real hockey fan. Look at fans, commentators. Everyone pumped and cheering.

The fact 8 players were ejected from the game 2 seconds in is a disgrace. I understand the rule but it needs to be changed immediately.

I know I’m in a small minority but I despise fighting in hockey - brings down the perfect game of speed & skill.

That's like saying if you don't like cheerleaders then you're not a real football fan.
Fighting isn't actually part of the sport - so it really shouldn't be considered "real hockey". It's even more ridiculous when it's staged like this was. The players didn't even have a chance to build up frustrations or anger. This was essentially WWE wrestling.
