I'm extremely underwhelmed. Ronan's proposal was so much more dynamic.

+1

This looks like a poor knock-off of the temple of Exar Kun.

The architectural design seems fairly underwhelming, but I'm happy they're pushing for this aspect.

Hmmm....I kinda like it. The monolithic quality of the museum will be impressive when standing in the plaza. The detailing will be extremely important, as with all Tsien Williams designs. They are generally very good on that score.

Obama library plans released. Not bad, closing down Cornell Dr would be awesome!

I agree. Looks like something that would be at home at the Columbian Exposition.

Closing the main connection between the Skyway and Lake Shore Drive? I lived in that neighborhood and this is going to raise a lot of voices.

As far as the architecture...A non rectangular building on park grounds..Reminds me of a proposal far far away

If you look at the site plan above, it appears that Cornell remains open.

Excellent SW reference......and unfortuantely agree. I think it's absolutely hideous. Waaaaaayyyy too temple-like, and that is not a good thing.

It looks closed to me. Look at the width of "Cornell" compared to Stony Island. The way the paths meander makes me think it is being turned into a path.

Also, in the model there are no cars on Cornell.

As I'm sure you know perfectly well, they felt it was the better part of valor to back off on the Obama library when the "Bring It Home" folks threatened a racial shitstorm.

On the one hand, the Community garden/Library and Forum seem relatively sensitive to the site....but then that monstrous museum just completely negates the rest of the project design. Not at all aligned, and very disappointing.

Yeah, I'm looking at that.

Maybe they're justifying that by saying it'll counterbalance the loss of parkland for the presidential center.
