Actually gave an Uber ride to one of the architects for this project. He worked on 70 Rainey too. Nice guy. If you wanna be an architect it's never too late! Could make a killing in ATX. Boom town!

I believe they're working on the 2nd to last floor. There are 18 of the "double balconies" below the top of the building, and right now they're working on the 17th one. Even after the main roof is done the mechanical penthouse will rise another 24 feet above the main roof parapet. Going with that, they have another 33 feet to go to the very top of the building at the moment.

Rendering for reference:

It looks like the Hanover Republic Square core may be topped out. So we have three 500'-600' towers topping out around the same time: 44 East, Block 185 and Republic Sq.

In my opinion the skyline is hitting a critical mass where it's really starting to look like a "big city" skyline from just about any angle.

There have been certain spots where it was quite impressive for a decade or more, but in others not so much.

These days the density and height is evident from everywhere I have had a view.

The views which show the skyline stretching from 44 East in Rainey all the way up to Waterloo in West Campus are the most impressive I believe.

It's just miles of skyline to take in. It's pretty epic in my book.
