Looks like they moved the crane up last night.

Here is a mirrored picture from today of Zion and 12th st. I imagine the ground level elevation of Zion is slightly higher than 12th?

no idea. downtown seems flat to me.

roof height of Zion is 278 feet. roof height of 12th and Idaho is supposed to be 290 feet (on the west side), though lower on the east side with the slanting design of the parapet, so east might be lower than 278. either way, they're comparable in height without the spire.

i read that if the Ovation gets built, the roof height will top out at 277 feet.

a 400 footer would be nice right about now.

on a separate note, there seems to be a lot of cranes lately outside of the core. there's one down on state street just past Veteran's Memorial, and another just south of St. Al's along the connector. anyone know of others? i think the ones in Garden City have been taken down.

I'm with you. While I'm thankful for the skyline we do have (there are some cities that have it much worse than we do), and the density, I wish we could break this 200-300 foot area. I would love for a 400 ft signature tower. I honestly think 12th & Idaho could have been that.

Someday

Posting Meridian developments in this thread is fine. Posting Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell, etc, development news is also ok since they are all growing quickly and are included in the Boise Metro.

One thing we do not want, is a thread for each city within the Metro/CSA as that becomes redundant and obnoxious.

Caldwell!

This Boise-area city’s downtown was a ‘ghost town.’ Now you might want to live there

The transformation of the core, Warren said, has had an enormous impact on the community. “It’s quite remarkable,” she told the Idaho Statesman by phone.

And developers are noticing.

Seattle-based property management company Avenue5 Residential opened Caldwell’s first modern four-story apartment building in downtown Caldwell on Dec. 1. Meanwhile, plans are in motion to build a new hotel, festival street and amphitheater.

Yeah, I would definitely say Caldwell has done a really great job at cleaning up their downtown area. It's a ton better. Their Christmas lights they do each winter are very well done. It's in good hands.

I'm interested to see what the plans are to cover up the exterior brick on the parking garage portion. It is going to be nice to have more parking on that end of downtown. It's needed.

Yeah, I was wondering that too when it started coming out of the ground. We have this gorgeous glass tower, and then there is this plain brick wall. Surely they will do something artistic with it.....I hope.

A huge mural there would look great.
