Favorite non-local building:

Opera Garnier, Paris -- never seen it in person, probably never will. I admire it from afar.

Favorite local building:

Biltmore House. Ironic, because my favorite architectural style is art deco and it's not like there's a lack of that around here. In the end, I suppose my desire for ornamentation wins out.

^^^Apparently only 25. According to Emporis it was 14 floors, 145 feet high and was built in 1963. I remember it as it kind of stood out on east Broad st. due to it being circular. There were proposals at one time to add a 600 foot observation tower to it, but of course that never came about and it was demolished in the late 80's. I actually really liked it so of course they had to tear it down lol.

The nicest building in the world (by far) has to be the Chrysler Building in NYC and I'll fight anyone who says different.

This is a GREAT thread!! I had to right click and save on more than half of the photos here... Some great building, alot of which I never heard of. Like that Ornate building in Paris. Beautiful!

Anyway, I'm more of a fan of modern architecture and futurism.. So my choice for perhaps the most modern and beautiful skyscraper(s) is this set of towers built in 1988:

The Lippo Centre in downtown Hong Kong!!!!

Smile R.R. Donnelly, just wish it was taller!

R.R. Donnelly on Whacker Drive in Downtown Chicago. R.R. Donnelly is a printing company. At night, the entire building is lit up so breathtakingly. It's as though it should be in Ancient Greece. When we're finally awarded the Olympics, as we will be for Summer Games 2016, the Olympiads will greatly admire him as well, he will inspire [even] them to greatness.
