Someone got shot and killed by seemingly random gunfire at State and Ontario when I was living there. A woman was clubbed and raped in front of Weiner Circle in Lincoln Park while I was living there. Those are two pretty nice areas and definitely not where you'd expect crime.

I have heard people call it Chiraq.

I say this to people who are from back east and are used to very tense neighborhood and racial interactions.

"Phoenix has poor neighborhoods but it has very few "bad" neighborhoods, There are places that aren't nice to look at but very few places I would describe as dangerous to be at night"

There's no place in Phoenix I wouldn't go at night.

Just checking.....we still counting on this starting the second quarter of this year? Is there anything out there solidifying this?

Doubtful. There have been no new permits or plan reviews submitted and no news from Empire. I'm sure they will still build it. But like everything else, it will be behind schedule due to the pandemic.

Just read that Salt Lake City just broke ground on Thier Astra 40 stories at 450'. Let's hope ours gets under way before summer and breaks ground soon.

Unrelated projects. Just the same name, I believe.

I wouldn't be surprised if the name changes especially now that there's another Astra. I mean look how many name changes The Link towers have gone through.

I hate to say it, but im sure your right. This project would have had some movement by now. I doubt will ever see that central station built either. Its been amazing how much has been built the last 10 years in downtown truly amazing. On the flip side it sucks we cant seem to get anything over 400 feet built. I know the density we have gotten truly makes a real downtown but feels somewhat empty without some really tall skyscrapers.

The last update we got said they’d start construction end of 2nd quarter 2022? If I’m not mistaken. I think that was about 3-4 months ago. Not sure why we would expect it to start any sooner.

Not getting Astra built would be the biggest kick in the nuts since Cityscape was scaled down. Especially after all the hype Empire put us through. I hope that piece of land is developed even if we do get a scaled down version.

Personal opinion or do you have a valid source?
