Agreed. No matter who you are supporting, go and vote. If you don't know your polling station, go to www.elections.ca and enter your postal code. Exercise your democratic responsibility!

My vote is easy. Whoever does the least amount of scare tactics in their campaigns gets my vote. If we could get rid of all fear mongering politics, the world would be a much better place in my opinion.

That would be Ralph Nader.

Not unlike Rob Anders, I don't think I've heard a single Conservative person I've talked to being happy with voting for Joan Crockatt. More work needs to be done BETWEEN elections to consolidate the vote.

While I didn't want to go political today and simply say, get out there and vote, I cannot ignore the sentiments in the following new article:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/11/25/pol-byelections-victoria-calgary-durham.html
Quote:
"Crockatt could very well win this with 36 per cent of the vote, and the only way you can do that is with a significant vote split on the other side," Bratt said. "Chris Turner would be the spoiler. The higher the Turner vote, the more likely it is for Crockatt to win."
Ralph Nader is a nice guy, but indeed his third-place place finish ensured the republican win. Think about that for a second.

That conservative fear monger "the real chris turner" video is so lame! He is not suggesting that we replace the oil industry! he is saying that we probably wont have a choice, so we should start looking at new ideas!

That is the problem. The green talk about new technology and looking to the future with cleaner air and water.......then the conservatives come in and make the greens look like economy destroying villains.

Turner said "the oil industry is probably on the way out" Here are some world examples of what other countries area doing.....then the conservatives take it out of context. I really wish people were smart enough to see the lies.

Im probably not voting green until the next election and Im certainly not voting conservative.

I like green, because to go against the grain takes the real balls. Its time to go against the grain in terms of environmental destruction and how people turn a blind eye. Whoever thinks the planet will keep living at the the current pace we waste and pollute is a fool.

Wow that video is terrible, it' so obviously edited to take things out of context and make it look like he wants to destroy the industry. The O&G industry is something that needs to change, the way it is going currently is an environmental nightmare, and this video makes me think that the conservatives are more concerned with protecting this cash cow than doing anything to clean it up. The Oil sands needs to be regulated more heavily, and I seriously doubt the conservatives are going to be the ones to do it. The industry won't do it themselves, the government has to force them to do it, and if the party in power is in bed with them, then it likely isn't going to happen. Just my $.02

Libertarian Tony Prashad 10 0.8
Green Party Chris Turner 313 24.0

Chris "Ralph Nader" Turner has conceded, and with a majority of polls now already reporting, looks like Locke will soon be doing the same. I'm amazed at how little even the so-called educated electorate understands real politik. Turner had very little chance to win this, as at his peak of momentum he only got to 25%. I had explained using pretty basic logic that his upside was very slim from that point, and as a result while it "looked" like a three-way race, only two individuals had any realistic chance of winning. Crockatt and Locke. If you wanted a more progressive MP, IE one that was not a public supporter of the Wild Rose Party, you had to vote for Locke (even if he wasn't your first choice). The CBC report made this explicitly clear also.

Green Party, at least with public financing coming to an end I don't think it will survive in anywhere near the strength of its current form.

Pathetic result. Despite all of the changes, all of the promise, and all of the hope, Calgary can still be so disappointing.

Looks like a win for Ms. Crockatt.

Personally I was undecided until today, but I decided to vote Tory. Turner would've had my vote if he ran as an independent, but I ultimately could not support the policies of the Green Party (if we were dealing with the Green party of yesteryear then I also would have voted for Turner).

I see my vote as an affirmation of the direction that Conservative government has taken since their majority mandate rather than a vote for the candidate. Although I am happy to know that my MP will have my back if I ever should lose my passport abroad.

I agree. The voter turn-out, as speculated, has been particularly low. We've always had circumstantial evidence that renters care less about the areas they live in, and I think the turn-out gives this all the more credence.

You get what you vote for. A vote for green was in actuality a vote for the cons.

I was shocked how sparse my polling station was! That's really sad...

A riding that has established itself as over 60% progressive is going to be represented by a conservative selected by perhaps 10% of eligible voters. Wow.

Victoria is looking pretty attractive to me at the moment though....
