It’s fitting that that photo was taken around “State Street, that great street, I just like to say…..”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That is 1152 South Wabash and it was built c.1892 as the Hotel Somerset. It later became the Hotel Meyer (or Mayer?) and then it later became the Hotel Roosevelt -

when 12th Street became Roosevelt Road. It was designed by Jules De Horvath as part of what was then a vibrant neighborhood. The building is registered as an historical landmark

and is recently said to have housing for people with moderate income.

The changes in names may be why the lettering is unclear.

I'm going to split hairs here....

I do not think the building is "twisted" as much as it gives that appearance as the northeast edge and the southwest edge both expand outward as the building rises.

The rest of the building is straight vertical. Two columns move outward while the majority are aligned vertically.

Because of the angle of the shot, the close-up photo of the upper portion appears more "twisted" than it is and the diagonal lines of the north and south exterior very

cleverly help make that possible.

I think of this building being like it is wearing a pair of feathers in its cap - a cap which has no real front or back.

I hope the building works as well as it is attention grabbing (in a very sleek way).

I thought something similar. Maybe not as harsh architecturally. But damn does that make me feel like an old timer.
Remember when that was the new tallest down there?

What a fantastic collage of architecture!

From this perspective there is such a wonderful history of textures and styles.

I would love to see some sort of mural on the side of what I think is the "Old Franklin Building" - but not something which would cover the old faded signs

already there.

From this perspective, 1000M is like a massive jewel being set into an outstanding historical composition.
