Algonquin Park again and changeable weather again. Gloomy one minute, sunny the next, quick bursts of rain and graupel, and everything inbetween.

Looks like snow but is graupel.

Not hard to see why Algonquin was a favourite subject for the Group of Seven.

You might as well be here, except it's so flat. There's no background.

The West Coast of Nfld? Last time I told Signal the mountains look pretty epic over there, he was like “nah they’re just 300 m tall” or something. I’m always left confused when I see them now because they look so big

It seems like summer in Vancouver today, above 20°C.

Nice, but it's going to rain.

my grainy view of metrotown today a bit dull

The highest over there is around 800m. Highest for us in the city is a little over 300m (the ones directly across the harbour from my house in all those views).

Yeah I’m exaggerating when I say 300 m, but to use a once-popular SSP expression, those “punch above their weight”. I’ve seen mountains over 2000 m that look smaller than those. The fact they’re coastal may have to do with it. I’m sure their prominence is quite remarkable compared to mountains located further inland.

Definitely. A lot of the middle of the island looks very flat.

This morning I got to see the cherry blossoms in High Park before the 905 hordes got there, although a few crazy people were here. I prefer the magnolias tbh

This was at 7am before the sun came out. Winter coat weather.

I went for a small hike this morning, cool but nice. Most of the early spring flowers are done already, but lots of trilliums.
