Glass railing is always going to be difficult to match to curtainwall glass. For one it is outside on both sides, so it's going to have a different look at corners when you can see the sky through it or when the sunlight is behind it. But most importantly, the curtainwall in made up of IGUs with two sheets of glass, while the railing glass in only a single, sometimes thicker sheet. For that exact reason we have a building in our office right now where we convinced the client to use IGUs for the balcony railings, essentially a half height curtainwall.

^ Thanks for the insight. That has to be an expensive option. SS cable would look good here, but when it comes to designing skyscraper balconies, I'm guessing wind blockage might be the greatest factor.

It looks like they began clearing the vegetation around the rest of the site. Are they going to complete the riverwalk before the south and east towers are built?

Progress is progress. I'll take whatever it is they are doing to transform the lot for the better.

Yes, the bar is set incredibly high right now for the rest of the development (the existing PCP placeholders frankly won't cut it, in all likelihood). WPW is an absolute gem - a true highlight of this cycle.

I think it is time for the Chicago Sun-Times to move their sign to the right.

Great updates!

Imagine if they tore down the Sun-Times Building and built a 1,400-foot building on that site instead. With SHoP designing

After they build the south and east towers of this complex as well, of course.

And the concrete must have been way out for them to have to do this. They're taking off a fair chunk
