^ So this is really Gensler? Just glad it's not another P/H joint.

The 1XXX S Wabash developments are P/H. 1723 S Michigan is potentially Gensler, since the architect is Aleksandar Zeljic. He helped design 333 North Green, Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, and of course Shanghai Tower. Kinda weird to have such a high profile architect design a relatively minor project

Do we know anything about what P/G designed on the 1600 block of South Wabash? I'm not finding anything in my usual sources, but that doesn't mean I'm looking hard enough. . . thoughts???

Looks like an O'Hare bound blue line train is on the Lake Street elevated tracks

1565 N Clybourn

The Georgetown Company is proposing a 37-story, 396 unit building at the corner of Halsted/Clybourn. I could not find any renderings.

A few snippets from the Crain's article this afternoon.

Quote:
A New York developer wants to put another big apartment building in the pipeline for a busy North Side shopping district, proposing an almost 400-unit residential tower near the intersection of North and Clybourn avenues.

Georgetown Co. is seeking to construct a 37-story, 396-unit building at 1565 N. Clybourn Ave., according to an email to constituents from 2nd Ward Ald. Brian Hopkins. The developer wants to rezone the property to allow for high-rise development, replacing the former Bank of America building but keeping an adjacent two-story retail building and four-story, 158-space parking garage on the site.
Maybe we'll see renderings at the meeting on Monday.

Quote:
Hopkins will host a virtual meeting to solicit community feedback on the proposal on Monday. The project will eventually require his approval as well as that of the full City Council.

Wow - Not that a 37 story tower is impressive for Chicago, but at that location, there's really not a ton.

It's kinda cool to see this evolving trend of towers going up further away from the normal CBD over the years. This seems kinda like a continuation of that trend given how its proximity between LY and everything going on South towards Ballys.

But it feels a bit as if the circus has left town (circus=economic activity and town=CBD in this analogy) in terms of not investing in a core part of Chicago that has so much history and great architecture. I like some of the stuff going up in the new shiny object of WL/FM, but that comes at an unfortunate price, I think.

Truth be told, there's not THAT much land left in the CBD and a little outside to build on. Some parts of River North in the more western section but those are getting taken up little by little. There's a reason too why larger development went en masse to West Loop/Fulton Market and continues there.

There are however a bunch of notable upcoming restaurant openings downtown in River North, Streeterville, etc (and West Loop of course) regardless.

424 S Wabash

424 S Wabash (Sonder Hotel) was granted permits yesterday. Feels like this one has been in the works for a long time. Happy to see it finally move along. Great infill for a somewhat desolate few blocks in the Loop. Once (if ever) 410 S Wabash kicks off, this area will look completely different.

Not too different from the Hoxton, which seems to do just fine.

Permit says 280 guest rooms, up from 270 (as previously reported).

There are a bunch of hotels right next to elevated tracks, both in the Loop and outside.

I recalled they owned the former Old Navy* on State street and saw this on their website regarding that site.

Point taken. Doesn't seem to affect reviews. This is from the Hoxton.

Wasn't the Old Navy at State/Randolph? Or was it at this site before? Primark is pretty bonkers popular though, I suppose they could move to the former Old Navy site if this lot is developed.
