-2C and partly cloudy in Moncton, getting up to +1C this afternoon. +6C and sunny tomorrow, so, there will be lots of melting. Snow this time of year never lasts long.

I fired up my snowblower last night for only the third time this season. It is 35 years old (and the first thing I bought after moving to Moncton) and what a little beast she is. Honda makes the best snowblowers..............

But anyway, over here you’ll mostly just see some old snow piles. There’s probably some snow left in yards with more shade, but not like you describe. As I noted above, stuff is even sprouting out of the ground that has been snow free for some time.

Yeah. Ottawa is set higher than central parts of Gatineau (Hull, Pointe-Gatineau) which is obvious when you look out behind Parliament Hill.

Shoreline and lower parts of Gatineau are at a lower altitude than Barrhaven.

Then there is a slight gradual rise in Gatineau that I am at the top of. This is why I am at the same altitude as Barrhaven.

The Canadian Shield type topography of the Gatineau Hills begins barely 5 km north from my house. The plant hardiness zone changes right there too.

There is snow there before and after where I live and most houses don't have air conditioning whereas on my street everyone has it.

Remember before Christmas when everyone was saying there was no snow in the region? They had snow there.

Nothing too bad yet. Tomorrow morning as it ends we should get a look at how bad it is. I think we're pretty much guaranteed to stay around 50cm since we had ice pellets for so long.

COVID killed the snowday. Once employers discovered working from home, it was all over.

Good luck, SHH!

It was sunny, but still a bit chilly in Vancouver with a high of 7c.

Same here. 3rd time of the season, and I came in prepared with it professionally tuned and serviced.

Re: Honda blowers: Yes, the absolute pinnacle. Can throw snow over your two neighbours houses into the 3rd house over. They won't know where it came from.

I have a 4 year old Ariens, myself, and it does OK as well, but not as good as they used to be. (I had a 35 year old Ariens I finally "put down" when I got the new one. Engine still ran great, but everything else was just WORN)

The Honda is starting to show it's age, and doesn't throw the snow quite as far as it used to. In the old days, I could throw the snow over the roof of my house if I wanted to - not any more.

It is still a trusty steed however, and, hopefully I won't have to buy a new one for some time yet. At 35 years of age, I have nothing to complain about.

There is something to be said for winter's ability to, in a matter of minutes, completely transform the scenery in a mostly non-destructive way.

Warm and sunny day. Went for a walk in the nearby Northumberland Forest. Some nice towering pines, etc along this trail.

Storm has kicked into high gear.

Leaning out my second floor window chatting with neighbours letting them know I'm going, could they take in any packages for me, etc. Mary uphill offered to shovel my step so it looks like I'm home. Anyhow, during that, car slides down the WHOLE block, horn wailing, tires still. No brakes at all. Swung around at the bottom and darted off on the level cross street lol

lol harls.

Meanwhile, down in France...

There were a few outages on the southern Avalon in this province as well from the freezing rain. Not sure about St-Pierre et Miquelon but the entire Avalon will be transitioning to snow.

Only 35 cm down so far, but the really heavy snow has begun. Decent amount of drifting too.
