53 spaces for bikes in a building in that location with almost 300 apartments seems a bit skimpy.

Anyone know what they’re building in the parking lot of the church next to the Norfolk Southern HQ? They have a giant drill for drilling foundations and the whole parking lot in the northeast is fenced off

I assumed it was for Norfolk Southern. I did read some quotes from a church official several months ago in which he mentioned the demand was high for that property. I haven't heard anything specific proposed.

What a great concept! I love urban church's trying to serve the community. I hope they're successful, and that the site plan evolves nicely.

Wish version of Plaza Midtown. Not that I am complaining. This would be a good addition to the area. Sounds like the office space will be for the church in the podium, and both towers will be affordable housing.

Glad to see this moving forward! Are they planning to close Porter Place? The sketches seem to show one contiguous podium.

This is my main gripe with the project. Porter Place is a public street with plans in the work by the DOT.

Would prefer the street space remains public. We shouldn’t be closing off a block of public space for private development. If there’s a public alleyway or street space bridged by the deck, I probably wouldn’t have an issue, even with the massing.

I agree. That's one of my biggest peeves, along with huge parking podiums. You can not build a dynamic city only for private use.

It’s hard to tell from the renderings, however one appears to have a cut through/access point. You can see a break in the massing at the base underneath there traffic light arm. If that’s true and public, not just access to the parking deck, it can be alright.

The massing is really weird street frontage though. If it’s not an active use, it’s going to be a “cold” area to walk by.

I should reserve judgement until more renderings come out.

IMO the towers would be fine and nice additions. The massing around the base and potential street closure is my biggest concern.

If its anything like the Plaza Midtown that entrance is just to the parking deck.

It would absolutely be atrocious if there was no retail all along the bottom. They do show that row of glass with a double door, so maybe its planned and just not fully in the render.

Agreed, especially along Ivan Allen and West Peachtree. There are so many empty lots in this area, so I hope this project and FIFTY are extremely successful, hopefully leading to a mini boom in the neighborhood.

No announcement of location or size but this could end up being a decent sized development or lease:

West Peachtree & 8th

[QUOTE=briantech;9194291]If its anything like the Plaza Midtown that entrance is just to the parking deck.

Speaking of Plaza Midtown, anyone seen the latest at 901 West Peachtree between 7th and 8th ?

Seems all the demolition is done - or is there more to come East of the alley?

Pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks, folks
