Does anyone know what will be done with the old airport terminal, and also what new airlines will be coming to the region?

Also do we have any updates on whats being done with the ChurchHill Technology & Business Park as well as the New Orleans Regional Business park? These seem to be two great locations for some sort of headquarter campus or massive logistics and manufacturing facilities.

Any idea what they will announce? such a prime spot so hopefully something exciting and gamechanging for the property.

Hearing they will tear down Sears and Sears auto center and make the interior stores an outdoor pedestrian mall. But that's an older rumor.

It's great to see this approach to mall redevelopment happening in Jefferson Parish. This sort of project is sorely needed at the Esplanade and there's plenty of potential around Lakeside/Fat City as well.

I think there is a lot of untapped opportunity through Jefferson Parish. While it's hard to compare it to New Orleans, it's still much more walkable and accessible to public transportation than most newer southern suburbs. There are tons of strip malls on large lots and older apartment buildings that are overdue for renewal. The leaders there need to figure out how to encourage more of this type of denser pedestrian friendly development. Whenever I'm in the area I can't help but feel the most glaring issue is a lack of green space and landscaping in the commercial corridors.

I agree that greening and aesthetics can go a long way to helping out... jefferson parish is quite dense as it is so greening and these types of TOD development are a great idea. Some type of express shuttle service from these to airport and cbd are probably good ideas for JET Long term too.

The Higgins Hotel looks great from the West Bank Expressway. Its not tall enough to alter the skyline in anyway, but it definitely affects the overall city scape. Its such a massive, dense building. It makes me think how cool the rest of the Warehouse District would look if it continued to get filled with larger developments like that.

THAT'S how you redesign a mall hot damn. Obviously I'm sorry to see it surronded by so much surface parking but it is a huge improvement for the burbs.

Also gotta note just how funny that the culture has a "city center" still as a mall

JP is full of older 2-3 story apartment buildings surrounded by parking that could be replaced by 4-5 story South Market style buildings with ground floor retail and interior parking/courtyards.

It didn't really make the news, but when the north terminal opened, they added an express bus on Veterans that goes from the airport, down Vets to Causeway, then I-10 to Canal Street where is runs express (only major street stops) to the CBD. This is something a lot of people requested, but hasn't gotten enough publicity.

It will be very interesting to see what ultimately gets built on this now much larger parcel of vacant land that will be available after all of the demolitions are complete. One good thing is that a successful combination of the lots into one parcel would allow for a project comparable to the size of the Hard Rock project, but without the need to exceed the zoned height limit of that area.
