It’s the Centropolis (hence why I posted in this thread)

And where I’m talking about is the right-hand lane (eastern most lane) of Kent between Gladstone and Florence. It’s the lane that is just a few steps from the Kent facing side of the building

Sorry, I can’t post a picture due to firewall issues, so I hope I’ve explained it as clearly as possible.

And there’s no evidence of construction (no crews, no holes, no fresh pavement, etc…) so I don’t know why they (I assume the city) is closing this lane every 2 or 3 days.

I work not too far from there, I'll try to keep an eye out for it.

Any chance they could be reserving a "parking space" for their crew to work on deficiencies since the project closed not too long ago?

Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a unit in Centropolis for myself to live.
I'm a bit worried about the neighbooring unit noise levels. (I'm looking at
2nd floor) I'm desperately looking for feedback here/google but it's
quite difficult to find any. Since i'm buying it's not like I can try it out or anything.

I would love to talk to someone who has/currently lives there.

Are you only considering Centropolis? There are many options for condos in the downtown core, and most are concrete construction - the Centropolis is wood frame construction. If you are concerned about noise levels, I would steer clear of wood frame construction.

While many of my clients love living in buildings that are wood construction(was just with one Thursday in a newish Domicile building), however I don't think I would move into one, even to rent. Stigma or not, I listen to music loud enough and would piss off the neighbours for sure.

Why would anyone want to live in a building that is wood construction. Are there any advantages? What about fire?

They are cheaper to build so you get a lot more space for your money / cheaper units overall... Ontario is soon going to have 6 storey wood construction which will hopefully lead to more builds on main streets, following what is happening at the national building code level. All of these buildings are well equipped with fire resistance and suppression measures. The large fires you hear about like in Kingston last December are buildings that were under construction, not yet equipped with all the fire safety measures.

I've been in wood frame constructed buildings that were very quiet and had limited sound transfer, but sadly that isn't the norm for most wood frame buildings. On average, concrete buildings are much quieter than wood frame, but there definitely is sound transfer in concrete buildings as well.

Were you at 2nd Ave west by any chance? If so, what are your thoughts?

Anyone on here has a unit in this building? I would like to know about the quality of the soundproofing in the units, seeing how this building was built using woodframe construction.

I lived there for less than a year; the sound proofing and build quality is lacking.
