Wow, those towers will completely change the character of Rainey Street. I like the fact that it feels like a quiet little neighborhood right now.

Nice enough infill, sort of like a mini-Vancouverization

That's what I was about to say! If it were April 1st, I'd think we were being played. I am a bit underwhelmed by the Cousins Tower design, but according to the article it's only in the initial design phase, so the final design might be different. I would want only the best for this awesome city!

I LOVE the design. It complements Frost very well.

I like it, love the glass facade but again, I am bummed about the height. I would rather them combine two 30 floor office tower projects together to make a 60 floor tower. We just cant seem to break 30 floors for office except for Frost and its only 33. I hope this tower does increase in floors and height when they break ground.

The office tower is 12 floors of parking and 18 floors of actual office. If it went to 60 floors you are looking at 24 levels of parking? It may just be too small of a lot to build anything too tall. I guess they could put a few levels underground and add 5 or 6 floors on top of the 30.

Good point. We always have to factor in parking.

This is indeed a very handsome building. I'm hoping they build this soon....it would compliment Frost very well

I'm still so happy about Trader Joe's at Seaholm. I spoke with my close friend who manages Royal Blue, and they expressed no worries with this announcement. When TJ's opens I will have a SSP 2 buck chuck party at my apartment!

Cool Austin #1 on America's Fastest-Growing Cities List

There was a time in the early 1990s when Austin, Texas, was the quintessential see-through city, with empty office towers downtown and vacant subdivisions meandering through the surrounding limestone hills.

No longer. Austin realtor Kevin Elliott says buyers are snapping up houses as companies like Apple, Progressive Insurance and Whole Foods add hundreds of jobs and out-of-staters gladly pay up for what, to them, appear to be ridiculously cheap homes.

“My last three listings I’ve had multiple offers, and they sold for either full price or more than full price,” said Elliott, with the Home Resource Group of Keller Williams Realty. “They were all under contract within 48 hours.”

A revived home market is just one side of the boom in Austin, which ranks first on Forbes’ list of America’s Fastest-Growing Cities for the second year in a row. The Austin metropolitan area — including the northern suburb of Round Rock, home to Dell Computer — is expected to have an economic growth rate of 6% a year through 2016, according to Moody’s Analytics, more than double the nation as a whole.
