Agreed it would be a very nice way to honor his legacy by granting Moncton the 2028 Memorial Cup. Has Moncton ever hosted the tournament at all?
2006. Moncton won the Q Championship against Quebec, and they met again in the final where Quebec goaltender Cedrick Desjardins played the game of his life stopping 46 saves, while on the other side Josh Tordjman allowed 3 goals in the first 9 shots (2 of them from Radulov)

RIP Robert Irving.

I don't mean to be selfish, but does this mean that the ownership of Cats is in jeopardy? What does this mean for them?

His son RJ will likely take the team over. The main concern will be how the team is managed in the future. Hopefully the status quo will be maintained

RJ has been around the team a lot the last two years, so even before Robert got his diagnosis my understanding was that he was getting prepped to take over.

The on ice product is already in great hands, there is nothing to worry about there. As far as the off ice product, Robert was amazing at supporting the player infastructure (new bus, new training facilities, well taken care of for team activities etc). You will always hear in player interviews how well and professional they are treated. I dont expect much would change with that and much of that work is already accounted for compared to other teams in the league. For the game day presentation is perhaps where you might see a change,

I know for a fact that RKI was still heavily involved in day to day decisions and hirings. I know it was him that brought back JR and hired the current DJ. He had a particular way he wanted everything, and to be honest there is times that it left a lot to be desired. The DJ was a step back this season and JR is way past his prime. The mentality in the Wildcats office is that they can come up with all the creative ideas they want but in the end they were often stuck waiting for the RKI stamp of approval. Many great and original ideas never see the light of day or wont get their budget approved, and the office is often short staffed and entirely kept going by a team of student interns. The staff turnover around the team office was comical, I've lost count of how many business operations managers have come through in the last few years. Ryan Jenner was back with the team again this season moving over from midland temporarily because they cannot find anyone to fill that job.

If RJ is abit less hands on, and lets the staff take a run with fresh new ideas it will be interesting to see. You see a lot more creativity from other teams around the league with it comes to ticketing promotions, season ticket offerings etc. Some of that is due to restrictions with Avenir and Ticketmaster, but not all of it can be blamed on that. Interesting times ahead for the franchise.

That use to be a joke at Irving companies years ago. The closer you were to upper management, the closer you were to being out the door.

Random question, if anyone knows...where did "Thrive" go...did they stop building things? They were popping up all over the place but then just...stopped.

Via Keith Parlee • Chief Executive Officer at Apex Industries

We are proud to announce the most significant Capital Expenditure in our 65-year history!
Our Major Defence Growth Initiative is aimed at scaling our capacity, capability, and global competitiveness. With Defence spending on the rise across Canada and internationally, this expansion secures our long-term stake in the sector and positions us to compete aggressively on a global scale.
Defence and military work already accounts for 25% of our manufacturing sales. This expansion in our Contract Manufacturing Group is in addition to the vital Defence work we already maintain within our Aerospace Group.

To support this Defence focus, we will be investing in several ways:
- A purpose-designed, 35,000 sq. ft. building addition
- Advanced Robotic Welding and Robotic Bending
- An Automated Powder Coating Line
- Enhanced Engineering strength in advanced manufacturing, automation, and robotics
Driven by Strong Partnerships

This initiative is supported by contractual work already in progress, including:
Our recently announced $25M contract with Irving Shipbuilding to supply naval lighting solutions for the River Class Destroyers.

A new contract with Rheinmetall Canada on the Enhanced Recovery Capability (ERC) Vehicles for the Canadian Armed Forces.

Additional Defence contracts to be announced shortly.

Investing in Our People

Technology doesn’t get you very far without talent. This initiative means growing our workforce in both size and scope, ensuring our already dedicated "APEXers" have the advanced skills and resources required to manage these complex, Defence component projects.

As we break ground and order this state-of-the-art equipment, we are proud to do our part in the growth of an already robust advanced manufacturing sector in Atlantic Canada!

Craneco Atlantic is selling one of its tower cranes. I've noticed Amico now uses its own mini tower crane. Craneco also has another tower crane that has been sitting in their yard since it was taken down from the tomato building.

Today I noticed that the Ashford apartment building on Lorentz Drive has a Rodgers Apartment Rentals sign on it. So I checked the Rodgers site, and it also lists the downtown (Ashford built) Campbell St. & Gordon St. buildings in their inventory.

I wasn't aware of this before, but it seems that Ashford has divested themselves of their residential holdings.

I wonder what this could mean for the Assomption land project? I'm not getting a good feeling about it.

Don’t read to deep into it, so according to a source, Rodger’s Rentals is basically working with Ashford / Mupropertied. They are helping manage, lease and operate the apartments owned by Ashford. I think this is a smart move by Ashford as it allows them to focus on what they do, build and develop and a 3rd party can manage the rental side of everything.

But, still, Ashford has put the land where the Lorentz #2 building was supposed to go up for sale........

Again, they may be preserving resources for the Downing Street project, but it does give you pause........

Yes, and I'm surprised that they would let another rental company put its brand on one of their properties. When you go to the Ashford site and click on Ashford Living, MU Property Management comes up, so I knew Ashford had them manage their buildings.

Overall, it's not knowing what's going on with respect to the "big downtown development" that's frustrating.

From Colliers East:

Quote:
Greater Moncton continues to build momentum 📈
Building permit values in Moncton and Dieppe totaled $40.8 million in May 2026, reflecting continued investment across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional development.

Key highlights:
• Moncton: $24.2M in permit value
• Dieppe: $16.5M in permit value
• 223 permits issued across both municipalities
• Continued industrial expansion, commercial development, and new housing construction throughout the region

Strong development activity remains a positive indicator for economic growth, business expansion, and future commercial real estate demand across Greater Moncton
