It should tell you all you need to know about this proposal that all 'new news' that had come out about it since it was initially proposed is really just a rehashing of the things we've always known about it. That article is from almost a year ago but yea. The most recent updates to my knowledge is that they're "working with the FAA" on the height.


One thing I'm curious about is if the smaller towers in the complex ever started construction.

I was there. All fuzzy information. The renderings were AI generated and showed the buildings in various contexts such as Asia, New York, etc... Scot Mattison claims they will break ground with Phase I in this summer. He brought his architect who talked in generalities and was focused on connecting the development to Reno. When asked about the connection to Oklahoma Blvd, the response seemed as if they hadn't really considered that connection.

Mattison announced they had just purchased the Harkins Theater site, (a second attendee goes to correct this posts-- they are "in-agreement", no purchase yet) and will add several million more square feet to that locations.

I wish the US could get a legit project like this. The architecture firm looks somewhat legit but definitely not the developers. I'm curious as to how they were "involved" in the Miami World Center.

I wonder if they'll end up building the smaller high-rises in any case.

Some of the other replies raised a fair point about why on earth he'd spend all of the money for approvals + design with no intention of building, unless it were some sort of attempt at a scheme or fraud. I have a hard time believing an investor would fall for that.

I suppose that's a fair point, but the guy and his seemingly non-existent firm is getting international publicity for this proposal so maybe he figures it's worth the investment?
