I am not going to dig up the articles but I was just talking with my husband about this subject this very evening - the city plants trees but does NOTHING to keep them alive and blames the unusual heat and weather which is a factor but look at the medians in the streets - they are DRY - they are not getting proper water to these plants and the irrigation systems are plainly being neglected. They are not replacing dead and dying trees and nearly fast enough rate or putting enough funds towards the issue. Just my $.02 - our parks (aside from preserve areas) are a joke and not worthy of a city the size. Our suburban privately developed green spaces and green belts are better which is pathetic.
LINE the fucking streets with some real trees, put money to maintain and water them properly and the irrigation systems required to create these oasis in the desert. WTF.
