Mmhm. From the Embarcadero to 30 Van Ness is a distance of 2 miles. The way the skyline is completely filled in with dense mid and high rises without any voids is definitely a sight to behold.

It's interesting how that angle almost completely hides all the new towers in SoMa though. From the opposite angle, it almost looks like a completely different city. Note this photo is also taken pre-Mission Rock.

I really hope I'll be able to see it from the Golden Gate Bridge. Honestly I always have to squint to even see the Hilton Tower over by Union Square. I don't think I've ever been able to discern the Civic Center from the bridge and I cross it all the time. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled but hopefully this building will be able to rise above the hills enough to make a noticeable figure on the skyline when viewed from Marin and the Golden Gate Bridge. The view from the Headlands on the other hand...that will be awesome to see!

That is an awesome view! I cannot wait to see this thing speed up. I'm hoping to make a trip over there sooner rather than later to see it in person but keep up the updates! This is exciting!

I am excited to see this happening as well. The digging is happening big time now. The best view of the foundation is on Fell Street where the trucks are currently accepting loads of soil. The safety fence restricts the view. It will take a few months to get the foundation in.

homebucket thanks for the photo. I love the photo with the Sierra Nevada covered in snow. On a clear day have seen the mountains from the ridge above Oakland.

It'll be very visible from the tunnel before the bridge, this is from the top of that tunnel from my own archives

I visited the site today. The hole looks really deep. I rode the ferry in and I hope this building will be visible from the ferry path.

June 22, 2023 - view from the 28th floor of the Essex Fox Plaza. [Monday June 29th a young woman who was bi-polar ended her life by falling from her 27th floor apartment onto Polk Street, apartment directly across the hall from my apartment.]

There has been quite a bit of progress in the excavation of the foundation, if you compare May to June. at least one sub level down. It will probably take another four to six months for the foundation to be poured, tower cranes installed, and core and basement to be built out. Then the above ground portion will go up like a weed next year, perhaps a floor per week.

The foundation is always the seemingly slowest part of the project (at least once construction starts). But also rightfully so, as it's vital to the structural viability of the building, as we have learned from the Millennium Tower fiasco.

There is extra care needed for the foundation as the site is next to the Municipal Railway station which is 2 stories below the street level AND BART is deeper still under the MUNI tunnel. Care has to be taken that the ground does not shift posing a danger to the tunnels. Yes, it will be quite a while before we see anything above ground.

The 1989 earthquake (about 70 miles away) caused Market Street to sink a few inches. The subsidence can be seen where the sidewalk meets several buildings.

I don't think so. Forming the rebar will take time and then the concrete pour will take time. There is always the possibility of some delay. Next time I am by if I see the woman on the job site who likes to chat with me she may be able to give me a timeline. One of our people on this site may have more information.

Hey Iceman12, So I believe what is happening, and someone, please correct me if needed. But that white section is the waterproofing that goes beneath the foundation slab. If this is the case then they have hit the lowest elevation already and will be moving on to rebar next. However, it doesn't look there are many piles exposed which is a bit odd.
