A 25,000 sq ft Pickleball facility is being proposed for Dieppe, located off Englehart near Mike's Bike Shop. The facility will offer Pickleball courts, Padel courts, food and beverages, and additional amenities. Email [email protected] for further information on the project.
This could be wildly popular.

^^ Wonder if that would be an indoor or outdoor facility. It doesn't really say. The city just added a bunch of outdoor courts next to the AJL arena last summer, and they are always full, but only in the summer of course.

If this is a city funded thing, I'm not so sure an indoor pickleball specific facility is the most efficient use of recreation funds. Would seem to make more sense to create a multi-purpose gym that can also be used for other things. Aside from the schools and NBCC in Dieppe I don't think such a facility exists at the moment.

My sense is that this will be an indoor facility, especially given the added amenities of food and drink.

I am 100% certain this is a private venture.

If you have any questions, you could consider emailing the proponent (address above).

I received some new intel this evening from a reliable source indicating Amazon is indeed planning on locating a distribution centre in the metro area.

My source was not entirely sure on location (although Aviation Avenue remains a top consideration), The centre may be smaller than previously speculated, but perhaps it will be designed for future expansion.

My source also indicated an accelerated construction schedule (14 months), although he was uncertain when construction will start.

Will it be a full distribution center or the delivery station that Halifax ended up getting?

Not sure if this best belongs here or the retail thread, but the Jessy's Pizza across from city hall is no more. The signage has been replaced with Kims K-Chicken. This is a super high profile corner in the city but many businesses have not lasted here. Hope for the best!

Grey Matlock Bakery is opening a location in Dieppe on Acadie Avenue (Guardian Drug building).

This is a small Ontario chain beginning an ambitious expansion. They have an existing location in Calgary as well, and, curiously, are also opening a location in Atlanta, Georgia as well.

Quote:
Grey Matlock Bakery is a family owned bakery business established in 2018. We set out to provide a home away from home taste in Canada for all African Caribbean in Ontario, this provide the opportunity to enjoy quality, fresh and home taste traditional Agege bread and birthday cakes at an affordable price, hence the birth of “The real AGEGE bread”.

We strive to become a corporate brand of quality standard in the bakery/confectionery industry in Canada, offering quality and home taste bakery product to the satisfaction of Nigerians, Caribbean and other Africans in Ontario. Our startup plan is to have a strong network of reliable distributors across Toronto while expanding to other parts of Canada.

The first crane has popped up at the Origine Village development site off of Dieppe Blvd.

The crane is located next to the Keith Road side of the development. They are already working on the first floor of the building. In addition, there are at least three and possibly four other foundations being put in.

This will be a very active construction year at Origine Village.

Is it a full tower crane or a mini tower crane?

Proposal for a multi-building mini storage warehouse development on Englehart Street in the Dieppe Business Park.

Quote:
(1) Land Maxx Developments Inc. – rue Englehart Street, Dieppe, NB – PID 70506399

(1) to allow more than one main building on a lot as per paragraph 3.11(2)(c) of the zoning by-law, a purpose subject to terms and conditions of the Committee,

(2) to allow the use of mini storage warehouses as per paragraph 7.3(1)(d) of the zoning by-law, a particular purpose which the Committee may permit subject to terms and conditions, and may prohibit the use
where compliance with the terms and conditions imposed cannot reasonably be expected.

Normally I wouldn't post an image for something like this, but, this is a pretty large development. It will be more or less across from Mike's Bike Shop.

More images including a rendering here:

Memramcook is an honourary extension of Dieppe, so, this probably belongs here:

Memramcook locks in $10.1 million in federal funding for water expansion and rec centre
April 11, 2025

recreation centre to be built next to the community-owned Memramcook Valley Golf Course. The feds have committed $6 million to the estimated $13.5 million project. Bourgeois says the municipality has applied for a provincial contribution, and will also undertake a campaign to raise the municipal contribution.

Quote:
The new recreation centre will include a multipurpose room that can accommodate 325 people, and also storage so that the village can start offering equipment rentals. “We’re going to try to start renting snow shoes, maybe cross country skis, possibly e-bikes down the road,” says Bourgeois. There would also be pickleball and tennis rackets available during the summer season. “We really want to create a four season sort of attraction to encourage people to do outside activities,” says Bourgeois.

Bourgeois says the centre will complement and encourage use of the nearby LeBlanc Park, which may soon be growing. “We are in the process of acquiring, I think it’s 62 acres, to extend our municipal park,” says Bourgeois. “So that’s going to open a lot of opportunities as well.”

Bourgeois says the recreation centre project is not to be confused with a community centre that’s being proposed on the grounds of the Abbey Landry school. That centre is in the early planning stages, and would involve collaboration with the Francophone Southeast school district. The community centre plan includes the combining of Memramcook’s public library with the school library into one facility. Bourgeois presented about both ideas at a public meeting in February.

Lots of digging going on on the former location of Pizza Delight on Champlain Street. Rumour is for a small retail plaza.

They are now halfway through construction of the 5th floor of Balade on Acadie Ave.

Things are now progressing quickly.

You can see their Promenade Neuf building in the background

Our friends at Infinity Aerials have been busy:

aerial of the construction site:

Render of the building to be built:

Obviously not a "small retail plaza." Apparently a six storey 50 unit apartment building with ground floor commercial space. The impressive densification of downtown Dieppe continues.....

I see that Maxi, a Quebec based grocery store chain is expanding into NB with a first store in Caraquet. I could see them expanding throughout francophone NB. Perhaps we will see stores in Dieppe and Shediac.

Shediac technically already has one

Maxi is a discount supermarket under the Loblaws umbrella. It's the French-Canadian version of No Frills, more or less.
