One would think the University has plans to replace these residences almost simultaneously or ready to go... There has been significant pressure for on-campus residences and the University keeps growing every year.
I imagine closing Brooks (700 beds), Marchand (349) and Stanton (357) would create a significant loss of space (> 1,400 beds) and revenue.
The 2 or 3 private "off-campus" residences that have popped up are not enough to absorb the demand and those options, let's be honest, are much more expensive (a 1bed or studio is $1,600/month at the new Annexe building on Laurier).
