White Oaks Mall announced today that Footlab, an entertainment and performance centre, will be coming to White Oaks Mall.

Footlab is billed as an entertainment and soccer-training facility that uses artificial intelligence and performance technology to give players a place to train, compete and track their performance in real time.

It is owned by [soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo], Rui Costa and 7EGEND, a Portuguese technology and digital innovation company. The company has locations around the world, including in Portugal, Kazakhstan and, most recently, the United States in California.

The 3,400-square-metre (37,000-square-foot) facility will feature soccer fields and tracks of various sizes, along with virtual reality components and large screens, Imrie [White Oaks Mall marketing manager] said. Interactive games designed to support training and skill development will also be part of the experience.

Imrie said the former space is nearly ready for Footlab and Ikea to move in and begin interior construction, with the performance park aiming to open this winter. Further information on the London location will be announced in the coming weeks.
