Interesting Facts/Records: Projekteerijate Maja (Designers' House), historically also known as the Eesti Maaehitusprojekti Maja, is a monumental late-Soviet modernist office complex located at Rävala puiestee 8 in Tallinn. Originally commissioned in 1965 as the centralized "production house" for the Estonian SSR's primary architectural and engineering institutes specifically RPI Eesti Projekt, Eesti Maaehitusprojekt, and Energiavõrkude Projekt the building’s construction spanned 15 years, reaching completion in 1981. Designed by a prominent architectural trio consisting of Peep Jänes, Mart Port, and Arvo Niineväli, the structure is a primary example of the "International Style" in Estonia, featuring purified geometric volumes and a staggered profile that reaches 12 above ground floors at its highest point. The complex’s verticality is highly varied, comprising an 11 and 12 story high-rise office block, a low-slung 2-story street facing podium housing a major auditorium and retail spaces, and a courtyard wing of 4 to 5 floors. The interior, designed by Hannes Krull, Kirsti Laanemaa, and Aulo Padar, was noted for its functional versatility and a large, amphitheater-style conference hall used for national planning summits. With a total closed net area of 18,979 m^2 and a volume of 67,000 m^3, the building served as the literal birthplace of Estonia's modern built environment for decades. As of 2026, the building has been cleared of tenants and is undergoing final preparations for total demolition to make way for the "Rävala Galerii," a 124,119 m^2 mixed-use business quarter developed by Go Group

Interesting Facts/Records: Raadiomaja (New Radio House), located at Gonsiori 21 in the Raua subdistrict of Tallinn’s Kesklinn district, is a 10-story modernist landmark standing approximately 39 meters tall. Designed by architects Jüri Jaama and Ado Eigi and completed in 1972 (with construction beginning in 1965), the building is a protected cultural monument and a prime example of the International Style in Estonia. It serves as the primary broadcasting hub for Estonian National Broadcasting (ERR), housing the editorial offices and high end acoustic studios for Vikerraadio, Raadio 2, Klassikaraadio, Raadio 4, and Raadio Tallinn. The building underwent a significant €8 million technical and aesthetic renovation in 2014 by Fund Ehitus, which modernized its interior while preserving the iconic facade. Currently, a massive new development is underway directly behind the Radio House on the site of the old television studios (F.R. Kreutzwaldi 14). This project, the New ERR TV House, designed by Kadarik Tüür Arhitektid and built by Nordecon, will be a 6 story state of the art facility expected to be completed in 2026. Historically, this specific construction site was the location of Tallinn's original 180 meter steel lattice TV mast, erected in 1955. This mast was the city's tallest structure until the 314 meter Tallinn TV Tower was built in Pirita for the 1980 Olympics. Although the mast was dismantled in 1984, its massive 150 ton concrete foundations remained underground for decades until they were finally cleared using controlled explosions in March 2025 to make way for the new building's deep foundations.

Interesting Facts/Records: Ehte 2 is a unique 17 story residential highrise that stands as a singular architectural anomaly in the Pelgulinn neighborhood. Reaching a height of 53.0 meters, it is noticeably taller and structurally different from the common 14 or 17 story red brick towers that surround it. Unlike its neighbors, Ehte 2 was an experimental project constructed using a specific large panel system with a light grey and white finish, making it the only building of this exact design in Estonia. This "one of a kind" status is often attributed to it being a pilot for high density housing solutions that were never mass replicated in other districts. The building’s location is set for a major urban transformation; it sits directly adjacent to the Putukaväil (Pollinator Highway), a 13 kilometer long green corridor and "linear park" currently being developed to connect the city center with the seaside. Furthermore, as of 2026, the Tallinn City Government has officially approved the Pelguranna Tram route, which will run right past the building along the Putukaväil/Paavli corridor, finally providing Ehte 2 and surrounding areas with a rail connection to the rest of the city.
