Is there 2 different buildings? I count 13 floors and seems to be topped out, but the thread title says 26 floors.

There's another W/E tower going up next door. That one will be 26.

EDIT - modified the thread title to remove confusion.

The 13 floor tower has fully taken shape. The 26 floor tower is a very deep hole in the ground.

I guess Harley beat me to it! I was there Sunday but too lazy to post until today.

Really interesting ground floor here. Impressive scale to say the least.

I'm really liking this so far, shape wise at least.

Based on every render I have seen of this thing it will blow 95% of Ottawa developments out of the water, just as Viu/Viu2 did before it. Gatineau is getting Montreal quality, Ottawa is getting...some kind of mish mash of 1960's Russia and Minecraft.

Gatineau chicks don't leave the house in pajama pants so it makes sense Gatineau housing doesn't wear pajama pants.

Gatineau has 25 high rise buildings total (12+ floors) at this moment. Ottawa has hundreds. I like to imagine a clean slate that is uninfluenced by Nizhny Ottagrod for Gatineau. Besides, all the contractors live here, and you don't shit where you eat

Ok guys, let's come back down to earth here. 99% of Gatineau is an unremarkable bland suburban wasteland. We're not actually comparing Ottawa to it's tiny ugly next door neighbour because a couple of recent builds are we? I mean even 400 Albert blows anything in Gatineau out of the Water. Obscene to compare these two cities in any way. And if you think "Gatineau chicks" don't leave the house wearing pajama bottoms, I implore you to spend more than five minutes there.

There was always a joke for years that Gatineau got to view the better skyline.

Eager to see the Place renovations. TdC as well although I will miss that beautiful red rick. A white ish TdC and new Place facade will certainly update the skyline to something more modern looking. I'm all for it.

Gatineau is having a little coming out party with some of it's new builds, but it's still a baby on the highrise scene. Ottawa has been displaying overt highrise mediocrity for 70+ years. Ottawa has had it's chance and has failed 95% of the time and continues to fail 95% of the time. I really like the Viu towers and what these We towers are becoming. 50 Montcalm looks like it could become the most interesting commercial building in the NRC if the office market comes back. Brigil has 'landmark' ideas at the four seasons lot that might be huge (and not developed by Claridge of Trinity). I am not confident that Gatineau will outshine Ottawa, but the bar is INCREDIBLY low, so we'll see how it pans out in the next 10 years.

I agree with this. Gatineau has a long way to go to even compare to the Ottawa side, even as bad as we think Ottawa is, if most of those approved towers that were proposed go up, Ottawa blows it out of the water for the next decade.
400 Albert, 900 Albert, Granite Club, Bayshore towers, Carling Canadian Tire, 1047 Richmond, Dream Towers, Claridge 60 floor, Soho Italia, even Icon is better than anything proposed or planned in Gatineau.

I hope Brigil goes wild with their Greyhound lot and build a massive tower there. 60 floors+ would be amazing just out of spite because Gatineau rejected their offer for downtown Gatineau will still give us another 200m tower.

Centretown doesn't get a 30+ floor building until Diane Holmes leaves this Earth, the sheer power of her will alone keeps the cap on the clump.

Thats a huge exageration!! I'll take Ottawa's Zibi anyday over Gatineau's Zibi for example. Also Gatineau can barely build a 10 storey without a huge uproar, a threat of a referendum and calls to save a decrepit maison allumette from demolition even when it could literally crumble anyday.

Viu 1 and 2 are some of the best in the region, I wont argue with that. WE 1 is nothing to brag about and WE 2 (the 13 storey portion at least) looks really nice so far but not unlike somethings we've seen at Greystone Village in the past year (Milieu and Ballantyne)! So personally i wouldn’t suddenly announce Gatineau to be the superior side, May i remind you on the Columbia on St-Joseph

Some Gatineau chicks most definitely do leave the house in pyjama pants, though the Ottawa chicks in pyjama pants definitely skew higher relative to income!

This looks really nice so far. I like the tall podium with the columns (remind me a bit of Corporate towers in Toronto). Windows seem big, decent sized balconies, I like the overhang/roof element.

I would take this in Ottawa any day. Wonder what the 26fl one will look like.

Really hoping Hull sees a boost of density, urbanism and life!

I was gonna get into the Ottawa v. Gatineau debate but... actually yeah, I'm in!

Heafey is the only developer building quality developments in Gatineau. Otherwise, the vast majority of what we see is mediocre to terrible. As mentioned, even Zibi, the quality in Ottawa is miles better than Gatineau.

Ottawa has quite a mix, from bad to quite good. M+M, Dream, Windmill, Matercraft Starwood, Minto and a few others have done or will be doing amazing work in Ottawa.

And Brigil, they can only do beige. The Dale is the best project they've ever done, and it's not much more than slightly above average. I have little faith in what they'll propose for the old Greyhound terminal or cross the Museum of Civilization.
