25M a year really seems like not much to complain about...

https://www.edmonton.ca/sites/default/files/public-files/BikePlan-ImplementationGuide.pdf

as for far flung surburbs? The near term plan doesn't come close. Unless you consider Jasper Place or Forest Heights <-> Capilano that...

$1000/m for installing infrastructure on existing infrastructure is a ludicrous sum.
It is not a false equivalency. An integrated bike network gets used. Therefore an integrated network elsewhere would get used. If you disagree please provide tangible proof people living in "central areas" are fundamentally different than those in "outlying" areas. Mode of transport likely differs but that comes down to what otions are currently available. Induced demand works in many ways. It can induce people to drive more, it can also induce people to bike more, and so on.

And again the price is quite minimal. Especially compared to the billions that gets spent every year on can-centric infrastructure. Costs of this magnitude (100 million over 4 years) get spent on car infrastructure so often that they are not considered news worthy.

You think 1 million per KM is too much, what would be an acceptable cost in your eyes? Do you also considered the 1.8 billion spent annually on car infrastructure too high?

Also you don't really "install infrastructure on existing infrastructure", but rather rebuild the infrastructure in a new form. Your wording makes it seem less involved that the reality is.

I wonder where and how many signs CWB will install - rather awkward imo to have TD signage as you exit the CWB Building that is being constructed.

2023 summer sports to heat up the ICE District

Summer 2023 will have the district activated in ways never before seen, bringing a new wave of sporting events to the centre of the city. Two major events are set to take place in the ICE District Plaza and Fan Park this summer – the 2023 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour and the 2023 Fiba 3×3 World Tour & Fiba 3×3 Women’s Series.

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is scheduled to arrive in Edmonton’s ICE District from 20th to 23rd July. The Beach Pro Tour is the annual global circuit featuring the best 24 teams in the world competing for millions in prize money and world ranking points. With three levels of events and the finals culminating at the end of the season, the tour travels throughout the year and across the globe in stunning locations and iconic cities.

The plaza was great last year. I'm curious to see if this just splits the crowd or draws more people to watch downtown. It would be pretty disappointing to see the plaza half empty on TV because half the people decided to visit the "parking lot" version. Does anyone know the capacity for each of them?

I would say more people. The lineups for the plaza last year were long and I'm sure stopped many people from actually making it in or giving up trying a second time.
