The building topped out at 1025'. But, there was façade that stretched 9' higher from that last beam. This was also reflected on building elevations. Measuring 1034' from the lowest point of entry to the architectural peak.

However, the "official" site ranking buildings - CTBUH - has this tower pegged at 1021'.

Will this/can this change?

Yea I wonder if someone screwed up. The FAA also lists this at 1,034 feet, but most other reports like on the news uses the 1,025 ft number. I would say that the 1,034 number is accurate and have been "setting the record straight" pointing out that it is 1,034 feet...

Nope. I also am not really sure how they will do it or how impressive it will actually look. They have the middle pillars lit on each of the sides and they look good and can see them especially from points east or from Zilker Park. However all the pillers with the crown are flush against the glass so they won't be able to light it in the same way. There's also not much of a rim. Really the only way would be to light it from inside the crown and I assume that is what they will be doing.

1025' is due to lazy reporting by "journalists." That was the height of the last steel beam installed on the tower ("topping out"). However, the façade of the building rises 9' above that beam (1034').

I know some don't care...but, it would be nice to have this officially documented (internationally) at the correct height of 1034'.

At 1025, Waterline shares 175th place globally with four other buildings. It's in the top 25 in the U.S.
which is considerably more impressive. Everywhere I searched had it listed at 1025', Adding 9' would perhaps make it a more accurate measurement, but won't budge it's global ranking by much. A slight rise here in the U. S. would be more significant for us I suppose.

It's listed that way because people ran with the topping out height and not the overall (architectural) height of the tower.

It seems that fewer and fewer people in the world care about being accurate. That is scary (regardless of the context in which we're speaking about being accurate).
