American Patriot cruise ship docks in Buffalo, NY for the first time

Quote:
Passengers aboard the American Patriot cruise ship are getting a firsthand look at Western New York, and many say Buffalo has been one of the highlights of their journey.

The ship, operated by American Cruise Lines, arrived in Buffalo with approximately 130 passengers exploring the region's attractions, culture, and waterfront destinations.

Among them is Daria Anagnos of Montgomery, Ala., who said the hospitality she experienced in Buffalo stood out immediately.

"Incredibly welcoming, everyone has been really nice — telling us if you don't get to see everything this time, come back and visit us again," Anagnos said.

During her visit, Anagnos toured both Niagara Falls and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, two destinations she said exceeded her expectations.

"It's beautiful. It's really done well and our docent is superb," she said.

Sault Ste. Marie -

A pretty compelling photo of multiple cranes towering over the new $2.62 billion lock mega project that is u/c in Sault Ste. Marie, MI -

Quote:
The three stationary tower cranes are located in the new lock chamber. Two of the cranes are 248 feet tall and one is 260 feet tall. The lift capacity for the large tower crane is 39,000 pounds or 38.5 tons. Each crane has a 20 foot concrete foundations that will be abandoned beneath the floor of the new lock chamber upon completion of the new lock project.

American Patriot just left Buffalo sometime recently. Currently near Oswego, NY on Lake Ontario.

Nice! I love the Islands. It is wild how there is a rural cottage area within eyesight of a huge Downtown. Is that unique to cities around the world? I remember starting a thread on the most rural areas of cities around the world, but to have a quiet, rustic place so close to the middle instead of on some fringe is pretty unusual.

Thanks! Posted several more here: https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10609011&postcount=28

Indeed, the Toronto Islands are pretty cool and I know of no place like them. There are parts with tons of people around, and others where you can feel completely alone in nature. And it's hard to beat the skyline view from there.

Another interesting factoid: The Toronto Maple Leafs minor league baseball team used to play at Hanlan's Point Stadium. Babe Ruth hit his first home run there in 1914.
