Construction has begun on the Amsterdam Inn in St. Stephen.

Sussex has an impressive number of restaurants given its population. What is the population, like 5000? I guess it is a lot more with the surrounding towns and villages.

Just on the chain fast food front - McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Subway, Tim Horton's, Greco, Pizza Hut, Dixie Lee and then a bunch of independents.

Even if the design didn't hint at Wendy's, I am not sure what else it could be. Didn't they lose their A&W a few years back? I can't see a Popeyes or Mary Browns. Can't think of any other big drive-through restaurants off the top of my head.

Sussex has an impressive amount of services in general, I assume because it is a regional centre for a lot of surrounding rural communities, it far out-paces most towns its size when it comes to shopping, services, employment diversity, etc.

The growth of tourism has really helped too, being the gateway to the Fundy Parkway, and having Poley Mountain just outside of town means they get a lot of visitors or people passing through at all times of year.

The town is definitely going to be reaping the benefits of the growth of the three cities too, it's ideally positioned for local tourism, sport, and leisure spending.

Looks like the Tantramar gas plant got the go-ahead. A real shame. I was hoping the locals would nix it and force construction to Saint John.
