It's about the same as the time between Burquitlam and Moody Centre, maybe a minute or two difference.

Same is true for Skytrain.

If that’s the case, wait for the next carriage, or ask an attendant to ride? (Would be a good idea to have one or two excess attendants on site for such as issue).

it's better than hitchhiking up the hill which I would do in the mid 90s.

there was one ride where I got picked up by an older adult that worked up there that was way over zealous about his religion.... yikes. only ride i really specifically remember. lol

Same for those Highway buses, or those that don't let you get off until a certain point in the route.

I love the art of perfect diversity in these renders.

They are missing some crackheads though.

Also everyone looks happy. That's bullshit going up to SFU. Most of those people should look miserable.

I spend 6 years at SFU, and can count how many happy faces I saw commuting up the mountain on one hand!

I would love for this to be open by early 2027. Is that realistic? I don't see space for power wheelchairs or power scooters.

At one a minute with unto 30 passengers, that's less capacity then the buses. They need to be departing/arring at the station every 30 seconds.

Just like busses and Skytrains, I'm guessing that the seats will fold up to accommodate wheelchairs. I'm more interested in how wheelchairs will be able to safely get on while the gondola is moving (and minding the gap)

I assume they'll stop for 5-10 seconds for wheelchairs to load.

Every minute is 1800pph, that’s slightly more than the combined peak capacity of the 143, 144, and 145 combined.

I'm so excited to see a new rendition. I look forward to the line opening in 2033.

On the discussion guide, they say the capacity at opening day is 3000pphpd. With each cabin of 30 passengers, that means one cabin departs every 36s.

The ultimate capacity is 4000pphpd, not sure if it's achieved by more cabins or fit more people into the cabin. If each cabin still holds 30 passengers, this means a cabin will depart every 27s.

Wow wow, don't get ahead of yourself. There are 17 more rounds of public open houses, land acknowledgments, environmental reports, "marginalized" community engagements, and engineering studies to complete before we can talk about moving forward!

Good thing we have selected the route now, after a real and honest tight race between the other two amazing route choices...

For what it's worth... we're actually about to start year 15 of planning for this gondola, according to the discussion guide timeline (the initial feasibility study was in 2009).

All of the planning is the easy part. After that, the project has to get in line for funding.

Don’t remind me, this relatively cheap and simple slam dunk of a project is one of the longest running jokes of “in planning” in the area.

It was being talked about when I want to SFU as a freshman… I graduated a decade ago.

Construction might take some time too. The new Grouse Mountain gondola is about a 3 year project from clearing to start of operations.
