What shops/home ec you get to try depends on the school. Most middle schools these days travel to the closest high school once a week and rotate through 4 or 5 subjects in a year. Some middle schools have their own facilities.
A couple weeks ago I was touring the woodshop and STEM lab at the new elementary/middle school in Bison Run, it's pretty swanky.

yea i got bused from issac newton to st johns for my jr high shops and we would do a tour of allthe different shops through the year be there half days 1 to 2 times a week
then went to tech voc took drafting as my backup as i didnt make cut for photography as it ws high demand
