Very good point i'm reminded of a bit of history I came across when reading up on the founding of D.C. There was a certain amount of controversy during the formative years of our country on what role NYC would play it seemed obvious to a lot that the city would grow into a world class giant. To many especially Federalists they wanted to NYC to develop into a true "European style" capitol city i.e. a commercial and political hub that would rival London. Democratic - Republicans however took up the strict constructionist view of the constitution which allowed for a "federal town" they feared a hyper-centralization of power in the already burdening city. Consequentially it's only today that D.C. is taking it place as a proper capitol and arguably will always remain stunted.

On another note I found some legit drone shots of downtown on a real estate page a was browsing through.
