MUSKEGON, MI – An 8-acre parking lot on Morris Avenue in downtown Muskegon could be the site of a hotel by summer 2020 - and much more in the years to come. The parking lot between the Hume Office Building and the Social Security Administration building is the largest remaining parcel in the downtown that was purchased from the owner of the Muskegon Mall, which was demolished in 2003. Great Lakes Development Group, an up-and-coming Muskegon company, is first in line to purchase the Morris Avenue property from the Community Foundation for Muskegon County for $1.2 million, said Chris Benedict, co-owner of the development firm. The option expires at the end of April, but extensions are possible if a deal isn’t finalized by then...
