Another coastal city that is investing in its downtown and capitalizing on its assets is New Buffalo. NB is wrapping up a two-year streetscape improvement project that was the product of 15 years of planning. The bit below about the original wood water lines that were unearthed is quite interesting...

Their Streetscape project is now complete and residents are gathered downtown to see the final product...It was a $4 million project that involved redoing the storm drains, new irrigation, replacing power and gas lines, updating water and sewage, and more. Downtown New Buffalo is over 200 years old and before this project, they still had original water lines made of wood...
