Developer Melo Group obtained approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to build twin 60-story towers in Edgewater called Island Bay.

Melo’s application was submitted on November 9 and approved on March 19.

Both the north tower and south tower at Island Bay are now approved to rise 637 feet above ground, or 649 feet above sea level, a letter from the FAA states

Construction is expected to begin on approximately May 1, 2021 and wrap up around July 28, 2023, according to the application.

The developer has applied for approval to demolish a small apartment building on the property and to build a sales gallery.

The twin towers of Island Bay will include a combined total of 792 residential units and 12,600 square feet of retail.

Arquitectonica is the architect.
