MELO SIGNS UTILITIES DEAL FOR NEARLY 800 RESIDENTIAL UNITS AT TWIN-TOWER ISLAND BAY IN EDGEWATER

Developer Melo Group is moving forward with plans for a new twin-tower project in Edgewater called Island Bay with a utilities deal.
An agreement was finalized with Miami-Dade to connect Island Bay to the county’s water and sewer system in mid-February. Melo-controlled 24 Plaza LLC is the developer.
According to the new agreement, Island Bay will include 792 residential units and 12,600 square feet of retail. The connection charge is about $602,000 (the county is giving a credit for 155 residential units that are being demolished on the property).
Each tower will rise 60 stories, or 648 feet above ground, according to documents submitted to the county last summer.
Melo also filed a Notice of Commencement in late January stating that construction of a new seawall on the property was getting underway.
