Seriously, it's not the US, it's cities like London or NYC and then cities with much lower housing costs. You can't afford to build condos that you sell for $500/SF and spend $100/SF on the facade. When you are building something that's worth $2,000 or $3,000 or more per SF, then you can basically do whatever you want.
This is probably true. It's a shame though. You would think lower labor costs could offset some of this.

Isn't some of it regulatory as well? I thought you couldn't have clear glass in Chicago, and tinted glass shows more imperfections.
