Much of it is arguably influenced by what is happening south of the border. In America, the rich are getting richer, with more tax breaks, while the poor and middle class are taxed more. The disparity of wealth has widened substantially since the 80s.
We should be looking toward Europe, especially Scandinavia, to see what they are doing right.
