Changing the income tax exemption to 15,000 is actually long overdue for low-income Manitobans but given the dire state of social services and infrastructure in this province you would need to offset that with tax increases to wealthier income brackets which is pretty unlikely to happen. Then again, when the NDP likely become the ruling party later this year, maybe they adapt that income tax exemption with some modifications (maybe the first 13,000 instead of 15,000) and make some slight increases to the higher income taxes to compensate.
