2.1.1 TOTAL AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS:
The total aircraft movements (International and Domestic) handled in December 2006 has shown an increase of 27.0 per cent as compared to the aircraft movement handled in December 2005 (referred to Annexure-I).
Major increases are at (Annexure-IIC):

• Bangalore

• Nagpur

• Hyderabad

• Pune

• Guwahati

Higher growth in traffic at above airports is due to increased operation by low cost airlines and increase in frequency of existing airlines. Number of foreign airlines started operations at international airports other than Mumbai and Delhi airports.

2.1.2 INTERNATIONAL AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS:
The international aircraft movement has increased by 6.6 per cent during the period under review. Growth rates of different categories of airports are mentioned in Annexure –I and airport-wise details are given in Annexure-IIA.

Air Arabia started their operation at Trivandrum Airport from December 2006. Air Arabia started operation at Jaipur Airport from May 2006 and also, Haj flight operations at Jaipur during the reporting month contributed to higher growth. The higher growth in traffic at other airports is due to increase in frequency by existing Airlines / start of operations by new airlines.

2.1.3 DOMESTIC AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS:
The domestic aircraft movements increased remarkably by 33.3 per cent during December 2006. Growth rates of different categories of airports are mentioned in Annexure –I and airport-wise details are given in Annexure –IIB.
